Without a mask you are going to find it really difficult to see underwater. Light underwater acts differently to on the surface so you’ll need to get yourself a decent mask to stop you bumping into things and to really enjoy your dive or snorkel experience. You really need to invest in your mask, as it’s a crucial piece of your scuba kit. Masks vary in style and shape but the most important part of the mask is the bit that sits around your nose. You need to be able to pich your nose or block it as you dive, as you need to equalise yourself (like popping your ears when flying). You can even get special masks made for varying eye sights, so even those of us who need glasses during the day can scuba!
